Dear Sir,

enclosed you will find those pages of my Memoirs
which have so far been retyped. The whole text has
been looked at by a lawyer who wants to remove a lot
of it. Since laws differ in different countries I
have decided to leave the text as it is, and to trust
that in Germany, the USA etc. the respective publish-
ers will remove what would get them into trouble.

Though, as you see from your contacts with Rowohlt,
publishers are often a bit of a pain in the neck.

A German translation of CR may be quite a good
idea, and we must one day work out the details of it.

With my best wishes, I am

yours sincerely
